Miami Records Three Wins on Day One of Hurricane Collegiate Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami track and field team recorded a trio of wins to open competition at the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Cobb Stadium on Friday.

Erikka Hill led off the day with a win in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.35m.

In the men’s discus, Desmond Coleman recorded the program’s third-longest throw at 59.07m to win the event.

Emma Hencock won the women’s 5k, clocking a personal best time of 17:26.63, her first collegiate victory.

Calea Jackson registered a pair of top three finishes as she placed second in the women’s discus with a throw of 49.40m and finished third in the women’s hammer throw at 53.10m.

Luke Suliman closed out the day with a second-place finish in the men’s 5k with a time of 15:28.61

The Hurricanes return to action Saturday with the javelin at 10 a.m. before the 100m hurdles at noon. The senior day ceremony will begin at 3:25 p.m.
