Deysel, Robinson Garner ACC Weekly Honors
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — University of Miami’s Devoux Deysel and Alyssa Robinson were named the ACC Field Athlete of the Week and ACC Co-Track Athlete of the Week, respectively, following their stellar performances at the Hurricane Invitational, the league office announced Tuesday.
Deysel, a first team All-American a year ago, opened the outdoor season with a throw of 76.52m in the javelin. His mark is the nation’s best by over four feet and the longest in the ACC by 46 feet.
The Garsfontein, South Africa, native was just shy of his school-record throw of 76.81m set at last year’s ACC Outdoor Championships.
Robinson won the women’s 200m with a time of 23.28. The Indianapolis native’s time is tied for sixth best nationally and is tied for first in the ACC with Syracuse’s Iaunia Pointer. Robinson also helped the women’s 4×100 relay to victory with a time of 44.77.
Miami returns to action March 28-29 as it hosts its final home meet of the season, the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational, at Cobb Stadium.
