Miami Places 11th at Briar’s Creek Invitational

JOHN’S ISLAND, S.C. – The No. 55 University of Miami golf team finished tied for 11th out of 17 teams at the Briar’s Creek Invitational Tuesday afternoon in John’s Island, S.C.

The invitational was shortened to 36 holes due to weather on Monday.

Miami totaled a team score of 592 (+16) on the par-72, 6,152-yard course at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek.

Junior Olivia Grønborg recorded her fourth top-10 finish of the season after placing tied for ninth with a one-under-par score of 143. Grønborg carded seven birdies in the tournament, which ranked tied for 10th among all golfers.

Sophomore Rebekah Gardner finished tied for 32nd with a 36-hole score of 148 (+4), while fellow sophomore Barbora Bujáková ascended 24 spots on the final day of action to end the tournament tied for 49th (152; +8).

Freshmen Sofie Hlinomazová and Cloe Amion Villarino each placed tied for 54th after shooting a 153 (+9) over the two rounds, while sophomore Aada Rissanen, who played as an individual concluded the tournament tied for 82nd (159; +15).

Sixth-ranked Florida State won the tournament with a 54-hole score of 567 (-9), while No. 37 Purdue and No. 38 SMU rounded out the podium in second and third, respectively.

Miami returns to action on March 28-30 at the Clemson Invitational in Sunset, S.C.
