Miami Places 13th at Therese Hession Regional Challenge
PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – In a field full of top-50 competition, the University of Miami golf team placed 13th out of 16 teams at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The No. 49 Hurricanes posted a 54-hole score of 885 (+33) on the par-71, 6,017-yard course at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. Fourteen of the 16 teams in the tournament field are ranked in the top-50 nationally.
Sophomore Rebekah Gardner shot a 67 (-4) in the final round to jump 21 spots on Tuesday and place tied for eighth with an even-par score of 213. This marks Gardner’s third straight top-10 finish dating back to October.
Freshman Sofie Hlinomazová (222; +9) fell two spots to finish tied for 48th, while sophomore Barbora Bujáková ascended six places to tie for 62nd with a 54-hole score of 225 (+12).
Freshman Cloe Amion Villarino posted a three-round score of 227 (+14) to sit tied for 68th at the conclusion on the tournament and sophomore Aada Rissanen shot a 238 (+25) to place 85th.
Southern California won the tournament after recording an 843 (-9) as a team, while Oregon and Texas finished in second and third, respectively.
Miami returns to action on March 2-4 when it competes at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
