Miami Closes Out PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational with Strong Performances

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Miami track and field team closed out PNC Lenny Lyles with three victories and multiple top performances Saturday at the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center.

Solomon Strader captured the first win of the day with a strong performance in the 400m. The Valencia, California, native registered a time of 46.30, which set a new personal best and improved his No. 2 ranking in school history.

The women’s 4x400m relay team of Iyonna Codd, Gabriella Grissom, Sanaa Hebron and Janay Moorer ran a 3:34.21 to win by over a second. The men’s 4x400m completed the sweep of the event as Sean Watkins Jr., George Franks, Ace Malone and Strader clocked a 3:08.20.

A day after setting the program’s No. 2 mark in the 3000m, Maddie Scheier shined in the mile, recording the second-fastest time in program history at 4:48.71.

In the men’s mile, Josh Jones recorded a time of 4:09.12, improving his second-best time in school annals.

Payton Serraglio registered a season-best clearance of 3.77m in the pole vault, to improve her fifth-best mark in program history.

In the 400m, Sanaa Hebron placed second with a time 53.80. After qualifying for the 60m hurdle finals at 8.47, Brittney Jennings placed fourth, clocking an 8.41.

The Hurricanes return to action Feb. 14-15 at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
