Meier, Kosar to Co-Host UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Celebrity Bowling Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Former Miami women’s basketball head coach Katie Meier and legendary Canes quarterback Bernie Kosar will serve as co-hosts of the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum’s 14th Annual Celebrity Bowling Tournament on Monday, February 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Kings Dining and Entertainment in Doral.

Meier was inducted into the UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in 2017 and retired after last season. She led the Canes for 19 seasons and is the school’s all-time winningest basketball coach (men’s or women’s) with 362 career victories. She led Miami to 11 20-win seasons, 10 NCAA Tournament berths and the program’s first-ever trip to the Elite Eight in 2023. She was named the Associated Press National Coach of the Year in 2011 and the 2013 USA Basketball National Coach of the Year.

“I am thrilled to be co-hosting this awesome event with Bernie supporting the UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum,” Meier said. “I have so much pride for the U and am always humbled by being a member of such a select group. Let’s have a blast – see you there!”

Kosar, who played at UM from 1983-84, helped lead the Canes to their first national championship in 1983. He held Miami’s single-season record for passing yards for 40 years until it was broken this season by Cam Ward. Over 12 NFL seasons, Kosar threw for 23,301 yards and 184 touchdowns. He ranks third on the Cleveland Browns’ career passing yards list and won a Super Bowl XXVIII ring with the Dallas Cowboys. He was inducted into the UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in 1995.

“As an old school Cane, I’m honored and humbled to be co-hosting the Canes Hall of Fame Bowling Tournament with the awesome Katie Meier as we raise awareness and funds for our favorite university,” Kosar said. “U Matter and Go Canes!”

“As chairman of the annual UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Celebrity Bowling Tournament, I’m pleased to announce that this year we will have two Hall of Famers serve as co-hosts for the 2025 event,” said chairman Gerard Loisel. “Please come join hosts Katie Meier and Bernie Kosar as they welcome Hurricane fans for a fun filled evening on February 24.”
