No. 25 Swimming Wins SMU Invite in Dallas
DALLAS – The No. 25 Miami Hurricanes swimming team wrapped up competition at the SMU Invite Saturday, capturing first place at the event.
Miami ended the meet with the top point total, finishing with 936 points to best Hawaii, the host Mustangs and Drury University.
Among Miami’s top performers over the course of the four-day meet were veterans Giulia Carvalho, who topped her own school record in the 50-yard freestyle (21.98), and Savannah Barr, who posted a top-10 program time in the 100-yard butterfly (54.01).
Carvalho would go on to add another school record in the 100-yard freestyle on the last day of competition, finishing the event in 47.78.
Freshman Ashlyn Massey added a “B” cut time in the 100-yard butterfly (51.92) – the second-fastest in program history – while freshman Marissa Inouye posted the second-fastest time in program history in the 500-yard freestyle (4:44.33).
Barr added an NCAA “B” cut time of 1:46.78 in the 200-yard freestyle on Saturday.
Carvalho’s time of 51.06 in the 100-yard butterfly also marked a pool record.
