Dear Canes Community,

It is an exciting time on the University of Miami campus as our football team is undefeated and ranked fourth in the country, our men’s and women’s basketball teams tip off their seasons today, and several of our Olympic sports are off to great starts.

Football Remains Unbeaten

Mario Cristobal’s team moved to 9-0 this past Saturday with a 53-31 win over Duke at Hard Rock Stadium. The Canes scored five touchdowns in the second half and the defense’s four takeaways led to 21 points. Cam Ward threw for 400 yards and five touchdown passes and Xavier Restrepo passed Santana Moss to become Miami’s all-time leader in receiving yards. Congratulations to Xavier!

This is our best start to a season since 2017 and next up for the Canes is a trip to Atlanta on Saturday to face Georgia Tech. Kickoff is 12 p.m. on ESPN. The Canes wrap up their regular season home schedule on Saturday, November 23 against Wake Forest. Tickets are still available. Click here or call 1-800-GO-CANES. We want to pack Hard Rock Stadium!

The initial College Football Playoff rankings will be unveiled Tuesday night at 7 p.m. on ESPN. This is the first season with the new, 12-team CFP format with the four highest-ranked conference champions receiving byes to the quarterfinals.

Cam Ward for Heisman

Cam is having a sensational season at quarterback, and we are proud to promote him as a candidate for the Heisman Trophy, which will be awarded to the nation’s most outstanding college football player on December 14 in New York.

Cam currently leads the nation with 29 touchdown passes, which ties Steve Walsh’s single-season school record. He also ranks second nationally in both passing yards and total offense. Visit our Heisman page to read more about Cam’s accomplishments and his incredible story!

Hoops Tips Off

It’s a busy day at Watsco Center today as our women’s basketball team tips off their season at 11 a.m. against Stetson, and our men’s team follows suit with their season opener against Farleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m. Both games are on ACC Network Extra.

Jim Larrañaga’s squad returns veteran guards Nijel Pack and Matthew Cleveland, as well as an impressive freshman class and a group of talented transfers. Tricia Cullop’s roster also boasts a talented mix of returnees and newcomers, including Jasmyne Roberts, Haley and Hanna Cavinder, Natalija Marshall, and Cameron Williams.

Today is just the first of many action-packed days at Watsco Center from now until March. Our men’s team hosts Duke, Florida State, Virginia and Syracuse in conference play, as well as Arkansas in the ACC/SEC Challenge. Our women’s team hosts the likes of Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech in ACC play in addition to Vanderbilt in their ACC/SEC Challenge matchup.

Season tickets are on sale now. Click here or call 1-800-GO-CANES.

Olympic Sports Update

Our volleyball team swept the ACC’s Bay Area schools this past weekend at Knight Sports Complex. The Canes defeated Cal 3-0 on Sunday two days after a thrilling, five-set win over fifth-ranked Stanford. Keno Gandara’s squad is now 16-7 overall and 7-5 in ACC play.

Our golf team finished its fall campaign with two straight tournament wins, placing first in the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tenn., before capturing the title on home turf at the Hurricane Invitational at The Biltmore. Congratulations to head coach Janice Olivencia and our golfers!

Cross country competed at the ACC Championships in Raleigh, N.C., this past weekend and now turns its attention to NCAA South Regionals, which take place in Tallahassee, Fla., on November 15. Soccer finished its first season under head coach Ken Masuhr with a 5-8-4 record, increasing their scoring by 72 percent. Freshman Giovana Canali led the team with nine goals.
