Cannon Clocks New School Record as Hurricanes Finish ACC Championships

CARY, N.C. – The University of Miami cross country completed the 2024 ACC Cross Country Championships Friday morning in Cary, N.C.

The men’s team finished 17 with 498 points while the women’s team finished 17 with 511 points.

Senior runner Austen Cannon clocked a new school record time of 24:05.7 in the men’s 8K. The Pearland, Texas, native surpasses Nathan Kuck’s time of 24:09.20 set in 2017.

Senior Cormac O’Brien improved on his personal best with a time of 24:07.7 – the second fastest time in school history for the men’s 8K. Junior Enrique Borrego also cracked into the school’s top ten list after finishing with 24:52.1, good for seventh all-time.

Daphnee Lavassas was the highest performing Hurricane on the women’s side, clocking 20:46.6 in the women’s 6K. Full results from the 2024 ACC Championship can be found HERE.

Following the ACC Championships, the Hurricanes travel to Tallahassee, Fla. For the NCAA South Regional Championships – hoping to earn their way to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on November 23 in Madison, Wisc.
