Ward Tabbed AP National Player of the Week
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward was named Associated Press National Player of the Week, the organization announced Monday morning.
In the Hurricanes’ 39-38 victory at California, Ward led Miami to its second-largest comeback win in program history, erasing a 25-point deficit.
With the Hurricanes trailing, 35-10, the quarterback guided Miami to four straight touchdown drives over the final 18 minutes.
Ward completed 35 of his 53 passes for a season-best 437 yards and two touchdowns. The senior also added a 24-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter.
As of Oct. 7, Ward leads the country with 20 passing touchdowns and 369.8 passing yards per game.
Following an open week, Ward and the sixth-ranked Hurricanes return to action at Louisville on Oct. 19.
