Soccer Announces Captains Ahead of 2024 Season
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Team captains have been named for Miami soccer ahead of the 2024 season, featuring Adrianna Serna, Julia Edwards, Reese Wheeler and Skylah Klein as announced by head coach Ken Masuhr.
“I’m delighted for these four women,” head coach Ken Masuhr said. “They’ve consistently demonstrated the character and qualities we aim to instill in our program. I eagerly anticipate collaborating with them as we further develop Miami Soccer in alignment with the overarching goals and vision of the department.”
Serna, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., has played in 39 games for her career, starting 18. The defender has scored two goals and assisted on another two across 1,910 minutes of time on the field. Serna started all 17 games in which she played a year ago, logging 1,276 minutes on the pitch.
Klein, a redshirt-junior out of Cooper City, Fla., has played in eight games and 293 minutes for her career. She was honored as the Most Engaged Hurricane at Hurricane Honors a year ago and was also honored with the Vice President’s Award for Service this year.
Edwards enters the season as a graduate student, having earned four letters at the University of Miami with 55 games logged and another 32 started. Edwards started 10 games in each of the last two seasons, logging 2,788 minutes for her career. She was named soccer’s award winner at the Celebration of Women’s Athletics this year.
Wheeler is a redshirt-sophomore, having played in 17 games while starting eight contests. She won the game against Louisville a year ago with a game-winning goal in the 90th minute. The Bartram Trail HS graduate started eight games for Miami a year ago.
