Miami’s 4x400 Relay Record Shattered on Final Day of East Coast Relays
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team completed day two of the UNF East Coast Relays Saturday evening at Hodges Stadium.
The men’s 4x400m relay team comprised of Ace Malone, Solomon Strader, Jalen Gordon, and Robert Joseph shattered the school record with an impressive time of 3:06.21, finishing second overall.
The previous school record of 3:06.75 held by the 4x400m relay squad of McKinly Brown, Tyrees Moulton, Thomas Burns, and Davonte Fuller, was accomplished in 2019.
Milton Ingraham II added on to his impressive streak of performances in his signature event, the men’s discus. Ingraham broke his own school record of 60.99m with a 61.66m toss Saturday afternoon for a first place finish.
Deisiane Teixeira earned the Hurricanes’ another first-place finish in the women’s javelin. The school record holder in the event, Teixeira ended with a mark of 48.29m
Middle distance runner Natalie Varela clocked 2:07.48 in the women’s 800m to give Miami their third first-place finish of the afternoon. In the men’s 800m, Oskars Bambals ran 1:51.71 to earn second.
The Hurricanes now set their sights towards the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships on May 9-11 in Atlanta, Ga.
