Byrne Places Fourth, Miami Finishes Ninth at 2024 ACC Championship
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Miami golf team concluded play at the 2024 ACC Championship, placing ninth in the conference tournament Saturday in Wilmington, N.C.
Senior Sara Byrne shot six-under-par (210) to finish fourth among all golfers, marking her sixth top-five finish of the season.
The Ireland native carded a 66 in the final round of stroke play, the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament, to ascend 12 spots and crack the final top five. Byrne’s 66 was two off the ACC Championship 18-hole record of 64.
As a team, Miami totaled a 54-hole score of 877 (+13) on the par-72, 6,142-yard course Porters Neck Country Club.
Entering Saturday tied for 10th, the Hurricanes were one of four teams to shoot under par in the final round of stroke play, ascending one spot to ninth.
Freshman Rebekah Gardner tied her 18-hole career high with a 70 on Saturday, ultimately finishing 10-over-par (226) and tied for 47th.
Sophomore Olivia Grønborg closed out the tournament with a final-round score of 70 to place tied for 24th at two-over par (218).
Freshmen Aada Rissanen and Barbora Bujáková rounded out the Hurricanes score with a 231 (+15; T-54th) and 233 (+17; 55th), respectively.
Wake Forest, Clemson, Virginia and North Carolina will advance to the ACC Championship Semifinals, which begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
