Ingraham and Torns Victorious on Day One of Alumni Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The University of Miami track and field team finished day one of the Hurricane Alumni Invitational at Cobb Stadium Friday evening.
Graduate student Milton Ingraham II finished top of the leaderboard in the men’s discus with a toss of 59.10m.
This marks Ingraham’s third first-place finish this outdoor season. At last week’s Florida Relays, the Miami native broke Jeff Williams’ school record of 59.86m in with a 60.99m throw of his own, also good for a first-place finish.
Freshman jumper and sprinter Ashton Torns also earned his way to the top of the podium in the men’s long jump. Torns finished with a final distance 7.42m for his second first-place finish in his collegiate career.
Saturday’s events at Cobb Stadium are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with the women’s and men’s javelin. The first track event of the invitational will take place at 3 p.m. with the women’s and men’s 4x100m relay.
The senior recognition ceremony will kick off at 7 p.m. in between the men’s 200m and 3000m events.
