Mezzio Tabbed Collegiate Athlete Honoree at Peach of An Athlete Banquet
ATLANTA, Ga. — University of Miami cross country runner Elle Mezzio was named a collegiate athlete honoree at the 39th Annual Peach of an Athlete Role Model Banquet at Truist Park.
For 40 years, the Peach of an Athlete Awards Banquet has recognized deserving community leaders and athletes whose character and commitment to the community most closely match the aims and ideals of the Scouting program.
The scouting organization takes great pride in recognizing those who serve as good “Role Models for Youth.”
Mezzio, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, ran the sixth fastest 5K time in school history with 17:41.5 at the 2022 Florida State Cross Country Invitational.
Mezzio also yields one of the highest GPAs on the team as she is currently pursuing a bachelors degree in biology. In addition to her academic acheievements, the Hurricanes distance runner served as this year’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee Secretary and was a recipient of the ACC’s Top Six for Service Award, an award that are presented to those dedicated to serving others while displaying a passion for enriching the lives of others.
