Miami Finishes Seventh at Briar’s Creek Invitational
JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Miami golf team wrapped up play at the two-day Briar’s Creek Invitational Tuesday, placing seventh out of 17 teams in Johns Island, S.C.
The Hurricanes recorded a 54-hole score of 876 (+12) on the par-72, 6,152-yard course at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek.
Miami shot four-under-par on the final day of action to ascend three spots to seventh for its eighth top-10 finish of the season.
Michigan State took home first place at the tournament with a score of 860 (-4), followed by NC State (865; +1) and Purdue (871; +7).
Sophomore Olivia Grønborg paced the Hurricanes in the tournament, finishing one-over-par (217) to sit tied for 13th at the conclusion of play. Grønborg shot a 69 in the final round of action to move up 22 spots on Tuesday.
Senior Sara Byrne ranked tied for fourth among all golfers with 11 birdies and concluded the tournament with a 54-hole score of 218 (+2), which placed her tied for 13th.
Freshman Rebekah Gardner had the largest final-round jump, ascending 26 spots to finish tied for 25th at four-over-par (220).
Freshmen Barbora Bujáková and Aada Rissanen placed tied for 29th (221; +5) and 94th (237; +21), respectively, while fellow freshman Sophie Bierstorfer finished tied for 34th (222; +6) after competing as an individual.
The Hurricanes return to action on March 22-24 at the Clemson Invitational in Sunset, S.C.
