Miami Closes Out Competition in Boston and Clemson
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team closed out competition at the Tiger Paw Invitational and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Clemson, South Carolina and Boston, Mass., respectively, on Saturday.
A pair of Hurricanes recorded first-place finishes in Clemson as junior Kennedy Sauder tied his season-best mark in the high jump with a 2.18m showing, while junior thrower Erikka Hill finished first in the women’s shotput with a throw of 15.77m.
Three Hurricanes set or tied their personal bests on the track in Clemson. Sophomore Gabriella Grissom set a new personal best in the 800m Invitational, crossing the finish line in a time of 2:05.68 for a fourth-place showing. Senior Jalen Gordon ran the men’s 200m in a time of 21.72 for a new personal best of his own. Senior Makenzy Pierre-Webster posted a 200m time of 23.439 to tie per her personal best in the event.
The women’s 4x400m relay team finished fifth overall in a time of 3:34.41 for a new season best time, while senior Christina Warren posted a new season best in the triple jump at 12.77m, good for fourth place.
In Boston, the women’s 4000m distance medley relay squad of freshman Maddie Scheier, junior Krystalann Bechard, senior Emma Maurel and junior Natalie Varela moved into third-place in indoor school history with a time of 11.32.58.

The Hurricanes return home to prepare for the 2024 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place Feb. 22-24 in Boston, Mass., at The TRACK at New Balance.
