Canes Sit Fourth After First Round of UCF Challenge
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team sits tied for fourth place after the first round of the UCF Challenge, shooting one-under-par (287) on day one at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
The Hurricanes sit eight strokes behind leader North Carolina (279), but just one stroke behind third-place Kentucky (286).
Fourth-year junior Sara Byrne shot two-under-par (70) in the first round to end the evening tied for eighth. Byrne tallied four birdies in the first round to lead all Hurricanes.
Freshmen Rebekah Gardner and Aada Rissanen sit tied for 19th at even-par (72), while sophomore Olivia Grønborg and freshman Barbora Bujáková check in tied for 32th (73) and tied for 43rd (74), respectively.
Competing as an individual, freshman Sophie Bierstorfer shot two-over-par (74) to finish the first round tied for 43rd.
The UCF Challenge will resume with the second round on Sunday, Feb. 4, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
