Lopez Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Grace Lopez was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Monday afternoon.
The recognition comes after Lopez helped lead Miami (16-8) to a victory over Virginia and a close battle with No. 6 Pitt.
From Aguada, Puerto Rico, the freshman tallied 43 kills, 15 digs, eight blocks and two aces for 49.5 points. Against Virginia, she claimed a double-double with 19 kills and 10 digs, as well as earning a career-high five blocks for 24.0 points. Lopez then earned a career-high 24 kills along with five digs and three blocks for 25.5 points against the Panthers.
She now holds the No. 2 spot in the ACC in kills per set (3.88) and points per set (4.38).
The weekly honor marks Lopez’s second career accolade and Miami’s eighth of the season.
The Hurricanes will hit the road for Tallahassee, Fla., to face in-state rival Florida State on Sunday, Nov. 12.
