Larrañaga Announces Addition of Dewan Hernandez to MBB Staff
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head men’s basketball coach Jim Larrañaga announced the addition of Dewan Hernandez to the Hurricanes’ 2023-24 coaching staff, Friday afternoon.
Hernandez, who played for the Hurricanes from 2016-18, will serve as the Director of Player Personnel for the upcoming season.
A second-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Hernandez most recently played with the Ningbo Rockets in China, averaging 10.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game.
During his two years at Miami, Hernandez tallied 8.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He played in 64 games, making 47 starts, and was a key contributor on two NCAA Tournament teams.
Hernandez averaged 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during the 2017-18 season and was only Miami player to start all 32 games. He ranked 14th in the ACC in overall rebounding (6.7) and scored in double figures in 20 games.
The Hurricanes host TCNJ on Sunday, Oct. 29 in an exhibition contest. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. and the game will air on ACC Network Extra.
