
Lavassas Leads Hurricanes at Conference Championships
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –Â The University of Miami cross country team completed the ACC Cross Country Championships Friday morning at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.
Junior Daphnee Lavassas led the Miami womenâs team, earning a time of 20:24.2 and placing 22 out of 140 runners. Lavassas started the race strong, running 6:57.00 at the 2.2K split, which led the competition for the first quarter of the race.
Junior runner Austen Cannon was the highest performing menâs Hurricane on the day as the Pearland, Texas, native clocked 24:49.0 in the menâs 8K race.
The menâs and womenâs teams finished 15th in the team standings. The men accumulated 470 points, while the women ended the morning with 412 team points.
