Hurricanes Place Sixth at Glass City Invitational
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Miami golf team concluded play at the Glass City Invitational Tuesday afternoon, placing sixth in the competition held at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.
Miami’s sixth-place showing comes after the team posted a 54-holed score of 904 (+40) on the par-72, 6,218-yard course.
For the second straight tournament, fourth-year junior Sara Byrne paced the Hurricanes on the course, finishing four-over-par (220) and tied for 13th among all golfers.
Freshmen Aada Rissanen and Barbora Bujáková each recorded a 54-hole score of 228 (+12), while sophomore Olivia Grønborg followed closely behind at 231 (+15).
Rissanen posted her third round of par or better this season with a 71 in the opening round Monday morning.
Sophomore Katie Carman posted a 29-over-par score of 245, while Rebekah Gardner, playing as an individual, finished tied for 41st at 232 (+16).
Florida took home the team title, shooting 868 (+4) as a squad. Virginia followed with a second-place score of 874 (+10), while Michigan State rounded out the top three at 878 (+14).
The Hurricanes begin the month of October in Chapel Hill, N.C., where they will compete in the Ruth Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Oct. 9-10.
