Hurricanes Set Sights on Roy Griak Invitational

CORAL GABLES Fla., – The University of Miami cross country team will compete at the Roy Griak Invitational at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis on Friday.

The men’s 8K race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT, and the women’s 6K race will follow at 10:45 a.m. CT.  Both races will feature several regionally and nationally ranked programs from around the country.

The Hurricanes have gotten off to a solid start for the 2023 season. At the FAU Invitational on September 1, Austen Cannon and Emma Maurel finished first in their respective 5K races.

Cannon posted a winning time of 15:29.70, Cormac O’Brien finished fifth place with 15:58.20, and Enrique Borrego took 10th with 16:11.70

Miami’s women’s team finished first at the invitational out of 18 teams, while the men’s squad finished second in the 16-team field.

Maurel took first with a time of 18:12.50, while freshman Madeline Scheier finished fourth (18:15.90) and Lexine Arambulo placed 10th (18:31.70).
