Program-Best Five Hurricanes Tabbed to All-ACC Academic Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Following strong performances in the classroom and on the court, five Hurricanes were tabbed to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon.

Seniors Haley and Hanna Cavinder, graduate student Karla Erjavec, freshman Kyla Oldacre and sophomore Jasmyne Roberts earned the honor from the conference, setting a new program record for number of all-academic selections. All five Hurricanes are first-time All-ACC academic honorees.

Both Haley and Hanna Cavinder are pursuing degrees in anthropology and are eying a spot on the Dean’s List (3.5+ GPA). Haley Cavinder earned a spot on the All-ACC Second Team after leading the Hurricanes in scoring (12.2) and ranking tied for second on the team in rebounding (4.9).

Hanna Cavinder saw action in 34 games for the Hurricanes, totaling 55 assists and shooting 30.7 percent from 3-point range, good for third on the team (min. 50 attempts).

A three-year Hurricane, Erjavec is studying for a master’s degree in applied physiology. The guard started 17 of 35 games played and ranked third on the team in total assists at 77.

In her first year at Miami, Oldacre earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team as a communications major. The Mason, Ohio, native appeared in 23 games for the Hurricanes, averaging 4.0 points and 3.1 rebounds as a freshman.

On the heels of being named to the NCAA Tournament Greenville 2 All-Region Team, Roberts, a broadcast journalism major, also earned a spot on the ACC academic list. The guard finished the 2022-23 season averaging 9.3 points and 4.9 rebounds, good for third and second on the team, respectively.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
