Byrne Has Top-20 Performance at the Gator Invitational
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team concluded play on Sunday afternoon at the Vystar Credit Union Gators Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida.
Miami finished with a two-round score of 606 (+46), tying for 12th with fellow ACC school North Carolina State, at the par-70, 6,002-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course.
Tournament play was suspended early on Saturday, due to poor weather conditions, resulting in a 36-hole tournament, instead of 54.
The Hurricanes’ top finisher was Douglas, Cork, Ireland native, Sara Byrne. Byrne tied for 17th, with a final round of even-par, for a two-round score of 144 (+4). Byrne leads the team with six rounds of par or better since the start of the spring season.
Tournament host, Florida, claimed the team title with a final score of 563 (+3). They were followed by Mississippi State 567 (+7) and UCF 567 (+7) tying for second.
Next, Miami will be heading to Charleston, S.C. for its first out-of-state competition of the spring season on March 13 at Briar’s Creek.
