Miami Edged Late by Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Miami Hurricanes soccer team dropped a 3-1 result to the Syracuse Orange Sunday afternoon at SU Soccer Stadium.

Graduate forward Chelsea Domond put the Orange (8-3, 1-2 ACC) on the board with her team-leading fifth tally in the 24th minute. Domond’s goal stood tall heading into the intermission, but the Hurricanes (3-4-2, 0-3 ACC) didn’t go down quietly.

In the 73rd minute, Miami senior defender Emma Tucker ripped a right-footed rocket from 30 yards out that soared past Syracuse goalie Shea Vanderbosch’s outstretched arm and into the top-left corner.

The Orange responded nine minutes later when Damond chipped a ball through to sophomore Ashley Rauch, who broke free and curled it into the back of the net, pushing Cuse ahead, 2-1.

Syracuse forward Blue Ellis tacked on an insurance tally, scoring in the final minute, to help the Orange secure their first conference victory since 2020.

In the defeat, Miami netminder Melissa Dagenais posted seven saves, her third straight appearance with at least seven stops.

Following their season-long four-match road trip, the Hurricanes return home to host rival Florida State Saturday. The contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will air on ACC Network Extra.
