Rizzo Announces 2021-22 Golf Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami head golf coach Patti Rizzo announced the Hurricanes’ 2021-22 schedule Friday afternoon.

Miami starts the year at the Cougar Classic (Sept. 13-14) in Charleston, S.C. Last spring, the Canes placed second in an event hosted by the College of Charleston, at the Briar’s Creek Collegiate.

Closing out September, the Hurricanes will travel to Knoxsville, Tenn., to compete in the Mercedes Championship (Sept. 20-21).

Miami will then head to the Lone Star State Oct. 17-18 for the annual Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas.

The Hurricanes will later close out the fall season in the tropics, with a trip to Nassau, Bahamas, for the White Sands Invitational (Oct. 22-24).

Away from competition for three months, Miami will return to the fairway Feb. 6-8 in Orlando, Fla., when it begins the spring season at the UCF Challenge. As a team, the Hurricanes will look to secure a top-five finish in Orlando for the sixth consecutive season and an overall title for the third time since the spring of 2017.

Two weeks later the Hurricanes will tee off at the Moongolf Invitational in Melbourne, Fla., hosted by Louisville (Feb. 20-22).

Then on Feb. 25-27, the Canes will go head-to-head with in-state-conference rival Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla., in preparation for the ACC Championship.

Miami will then return to tournament competition March 12-13 in Augusta, Ga., for the Valspar Collegiate Invitational.

Miami will close out the regular season March 25-27 in Sunset, S.C., for the Clemson Invitational.

The ACC Championship is slated for April 14-17 at The Reserve in Pawleys Island. NCAA Regional play falls on May 9-11, with the four host sites being Florida State, Michigan, New Mexico and Oklahoma State. The NCAA Championship will then be held May 20-25 in Scottsdale, Ariz., hosted by Arizona State and Grayhawk Golf Club.

The Hurricanes slated to compete in regionals last spring, but inclement weather canceled the event. Overall, Miami returns a veteran group for the 2021-22 campaign, including fifth-year senior Kristyna Frydlova, third-year sophomores, Anna Backman, Daniella Barrett, Morgan Pankow and Franziska Sliper, as well as second year freshmen Sara Byrne and Nataliya Guseva.
