Gulllstrand's Olympic Run Ends in 3M Semifinals
TOKYO — University of Miami freshman Emma Gullstrand saw her run at the Tokyo Olympics come to an end Saturday, as she finished in 13th place in the semifinals of the women’s 3-meter springboard.
Gullstrand, who delivered an impressive performance on Friday to earn one of 18 spots in Saturday’s semifinals, came just short of qualifying for the event finals. Gullstrand finished with 288.85 points – just behind Michelle Heimberg of Switzerland (289.80), who earned the 12th and final spot in Sunday’s finals.
Gullstrand and Annabelle Smith, who finished 14th while representing Australia, qualified as “reserves” for finals in the event of injury / withdrawal.
Gullstrand ended her run on a high note, finishing with her top-scoring dive on her last attempt – a Forward 2½ Somersaults 2 Twists Pike that scored her 69.70 points.
