Sunday’s Series Finale vs. Wake Forest Canceled
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Due to return-to-play protocols, Sunday’s series finale between Miami and Wake Forest has been canceled.
Sunday’s game, which was scheduled for 1 p.m., was canceled due to a lack of available pitchers for Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons, who returned to action this weekend after missing over a week’s worth of games due to COVID-19 protocols, informed Miami of their decision to cancel following Saturday’s game.
“We were still planning going into this game to play the three games,” head coach Gino DiMare said. “I kind of had a feeling going into this game if it was a situation where it was close, they were going to bring in some different guys and they brought in quite a few guys. And although none of them threw a lot, he brought in a lot. Basically, we communicated that we would talk after the game and he let me know, because obviously we needed to know for to prepare for Sunday or not to prepare, and he just told me that there was no way they can play nine innings with the amount of pitchers they had available.”
The Hurricanes return to action Wednesday with a midweek trip to FGCU. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
