Dinsmore Wins Fourth Straight ACC Gold Medal

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt senior David Dinsmore won his fourth straight gold medal in the men’s platform Friday night, capturing top honors at the 2020 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships.

The Hurricanes ended the night in spectacular fashion, capturing the top four overall finishes in the event.

Dinsmore (510.35), junior Zach Cooper (434.65) and freshman Max Flory (429.15) took the top-three finishes, while freshman Brodie Scapens (387.10) was not far behind in fourth.

“it was so cool the way they were cheering for each other and competing against each other. There was a lot of energy,” head diving coach Randy Ableman said. “They’re the ones that wanted to finish 1-2-3-4. Each one just brought their ‘A’ game. They just kept one-upping each other. It was a great set-up for the end of the year.”

Miami dominated in the platform to take position late in the ACC Championships.

“It was great. It has been a long week. Things have gone well and not perfect,” Ableman said. “That’s our strong suit – the men’s platform. This is really going to help build confidence in qualifying for the NCAA Championships.”
