BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Miami women’s basketball team (12-10, 4-7 ACC) fell to the Virginia Tech Hokies (16-5, 6-4 ACC), 69-45, Sunday afternoon at Cassell Coliseum.

Redshirt sophomore Destiny Harden led the Canes in scoring with 13 points in the game, setting a new career-high.

Freshman Sydnee Roby joined Harden in double-figures, tying her career-high at 11 points. Roby was a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor, scoring all 11 of her points in the fourth quarter.

Virginia Tech got off to a hot start, leading the entire first quarter, but a 9-0 Canes run to start the second frame gave Miami a 16-14 lead at the 4:02 mark. The Hokies closed the quarter with a 10-0 run of their own to take an eight-point lead into the locker room.

The Hokies scored the first four points of the third to extend their lead into double-figures, which they held on to for the remainder of the game.
