Golf to Welcome Nataliya Guseva Next Spring

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team announced Saturday that international amateur standout Nataliya Guseva will join the Hurricanes for the start of the 2021 spring season.
 
“We are very excited to get a recruit like Nataliya. She is an elite player, she is an awesome young lady and we are so proud to be able to call her a Cane,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “She will without a doubt help this team reach its highest achievements ever.”
 
Currently ranked No. 61 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), the Moscow, Russia, native has collected seven wins and 26 top-10 finishes over the past two years.
 
Since January 2018, Guseva has won the Spanish International Stroke Play Championship (2019), Austrian International Amateur Championship (2018, 2019), Evolve Spanish Junior Championship (2018, 2019), Turkish International Amateur Championship (2019) and Bulgarian Amateur Championship (2018).
 
In addition, Guseva represented the continent of Europe in the Junior Vagliano Trophy in 2019, she is a member of the Russian National Team and in 2017 was crowned the champion of the Doral Junior Orange Bowl International, while finishing as the runner up in 2019.
 
Guseva will join an already impressive group of international players next spring in junior Kristyna Frydlova, sophomore Anna Backman, freshmen Daniella Barrett and Franziska Sliper and 2020 enrollee Sara Byrne. Also, currently a freshman for Miami, Morgan Pankow of New Albany, Ohio, will be the lone American born player on UM’s 2020-21 squad.
