Fisher Inks Pro Deal with Spain’s Sporting Club de Huelva
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Former University of Miami soccer standout Kristina Fisher has officially signed a professional contract to continue her playing career overseas.
Never missing a start over her four-year career at Miami, the midfielder has joined Sporting Club de Huelva, which competes in the Primera Division in Spain.
“I’m looking forward to playing soccer at the professional level, as it’s been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl,” Fisher said. “I’m also excited to explore Europe, as I’ve only been overseas once in my life. I really just want to take it all in and enjoy this amazing opportunity.”
A native of Jupiter, Fla., Fisher closed out her illustrious career with 69 consecutive starts and ranks in the top-10 all-time in a trio of categories, with 17 assists (second), 154 shots (third) and six-match winners (tied for fourth), as well as just outside the top-10 with 12 goals (tied for 11th) and 41 points (tied for 11th).
“Playing at Miami has helped me learn how to deal with adversity. We went through a lot of change during my time here and it really helped me learn how to work through tough times and to not give up on something you really love,” Fisher said. “From a soccer sense, playing in one of the best conferences in the nation has allowed me to increase my intensity level of play. I can’t thank enough the coaching staff, my teammates, advisers, administration and everyone involved with the soccer team for helping to prepare me for this moment.”
