Canes Fall to Indiana in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 21/22 Miami Hurricanes fell to the No. 14/16 Indiana Hoosiers, 58-45, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday night.
 
“Credit to Indiana, I thought they played with incredible discipline,” head coach Katie Meier said. “We have a lot of work to do and I need to see some inspiration from my upperclassmen. Somebody has to want to be a spark on this team.”
 
Junior Endia Banks and redshirt senior Beatrice Mompremier led the Canes with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Indiana’s Jaelynn Penn paced all scorers with 17 points in the contest.
 
The teams traded the lead throughout the first half with the Canes going up by five with 3:57 to go in the second quarter. However, Indiana went on an 11-0 run to close out the first 20 minutes of action taking a 31-25 lead into halftime.
 
The Canes cut the scoring margin to six points with 4:18 to go in the game but the Hoosiers never relinquished the lead, coming out on top 58-45.
 
Miami takes a break for finals and returns to the Watsco Center on Dec. 17 when the Canes host Binghamton at 7 p.m. The game will air on ACC Network Extra.
