Five Hurricanes Earn All-ACC Recognition
GREENSBORO, N.C — Five University of Miami football student-athletes were among those players to earn all-conference recognition, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday.
The Hurricanes had three players earn first-team All-ACC honors: sophomore tight end Brevin Jordan, senior linebacker Shaq Quarterman and redshirt freshman defensive end Gregory Rousseau. Senior linebacker Michael Pinckney was named to the All-ACC Second Team while junior cornerback Trajan Bandy earned All-ACC Honorable Mention recognition.
Jordan, one of three finalists for the Mackey Award honoring the nation’s top tight end, started 10 games this season and finished with a team-high 495 receiving yards in the regular season. Jordan, a second-team All-ACC selection a year ago, scored two touchdowns and averaged 14.1 yards per catch in another standout campaign.
Quarterman earned first-team recognition for the second straight year after a dominant season in the middle of Miami’s defense. Quarterman finished the regular season with a career-high 96 total tackles and added a career-best 15.5 tackles for loss. The Orange Park, Fla., native, who set the UM consecutive start record on Nov. 30 with his 51st straight start, has totaled 345 career tackles in 51 career games.
One of the nation’s top defensive ends, redshirt freshman Gregory Rousseau enjoyed a breakout campaign in his first season as a starter. Rousseau finished with an ACC-leading 14 sacks – a total tied for second-most in the nation – and was tied for 10th in the country with 18 tackles for loss. Rousseau had at least one sack in eight games and had five performances with multiple tackles for loss.
Pinckney was second on the Hurricanes with 64 total tackles this season and had a career-high 12.5 tackles for loss in another standout campaign. The Jacksonville native started all 11 games in which he played and added five sacks, six quarterback hurries and three PBUs. It was the third conference honor for Pinckney, who was an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection in 2017 and 2018.
Among Miami’s top performers in the secondary, Bandy finished the regular season with 29 tackles and three sacks after starting all 12 games. A Miami native, Bandy had a team-high seven PBUs and finished with one interception and one forced fumble. The selection marked the second career honor for Bandy, who was picked to the All-ACC Third Team as a sophomore in 2017.
