Vach Records Double-Double in Loss to FSU

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Savannah Vach recorded her team-leading seventh double-double of the season in Miami volleyball’s 3-1 loss to Florida State on Wednesday. 
 
Florida State (19-9, 12-6 ACC) jumped out to the early 1-0 lead after recording 12 kills, 12 assists, three aces and three team-blocks. Payton Caffrey led the Seminoles with four kills and two blocks. Vach registered seven of her 29 assists in the first, while Elizaveta Lukianova tallied four of her team-high 11 kills in the 25-16 set loss. 
 
The Noles extended its lead to 2-0 in a dominating second set, registering a .391 attack percentage. Miami (10-15, 6-11 ACC) held the Noles to just nine kills. Florida State’s defense was on point, limiting the Canes to a match-low seven kills while adding five team blocks. Vach recorded her first of three aces in the second but the Noles took the set, 25-11. 
 
The Canes pulled within one, tallying 10 kills, four aces and three team blocks in the third. Hitting .233, Janet Kalaniuvalu led both teams with four kills, while Madison Dill put up a wall with three block assists. Vach added two more aces with Kennedy Prince and Amanda Falck each notching one. Miami took the set, 25-15. 
 
The Noles pulled away with the match at 16-10, going on a four-point run and didn’t slow down. Florida State tallied a match-high 15 kills to Miami’s 10 and hit a match high .425 to take the set, 25-14. 
 
Miami hosts Georgia Tech on Friday at 3 p.m. for Senior Day and the final regular season match of year. Hannah Sorensen and Sara Duque will be honored prior to the match.
