Soriano Barrera Advances to Round of 16

TULSA, Okla. – Forced to move indoors for the second straight day, University of Miami junior Adria Soriano Barrera advanced to the Round of 16 in the ITA All-American Championships consolation draw.
 
Opening Thursday afternoon playing at the Case Tennis Center, the Barcelona, Spain, native jumped out to an early 6-2, 1-0 advantage. However, following inclement weather hitting the Sooner State, play was halted before moving to the Michael D. Case Indoor Tennis Center.
 
Once inside, the junior quickly closed out the second set, topping No. 69 Kareem Allaf of Iowa, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Soriano Barrera, seeded second and ranked No. 21, will return to action on Friday at 3 p.m. ET against BYU’s Sean Hill, ranked No. 55 nationally. With a win, the Miami junior would advance and face No. 70 Lukas Greif of Florida or No. 38 Jonas Ziverts of Arizona in the quarterfinals Friday night.
