ARGYLE, Texas – The No. 19-ranked University of Miami golf team capped the 2018-19 regular season with a fifth-place finish at the Bruzzy Invitational Tuesday afternoon, while junior Renate Grimstad recorded her ninth-career top-10 performance.

Competing at the par 72, 6,421-yard Lantana Golf Club, the Hurricanes closed out the two-day event with a score of five-over, 869 after carding a 300 Tuesday.

“The team was definitely off today and we are a bit disappointed,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “Hopefully it will all come together for ACCs.”

Carding 48 par-or-better holes, including nine birdies and an eagle, Grimstad closed out the event tied for sixth place with a score of three-under 213, her second consecutive top-10 tournament finish and the ninth of her career.

“Renni played great,” Rizzo said. “She just needs to get rid of a couple mistakes because occasional double-bogeys are killing her.”

The Bergen, Norway, native got off to a fast start Tuesday, collecting four birdies through the opening 13 holes and sat at five-under-par through 17. However, Grimstad recorded a double-bogey on the par-3, 182-yard fourth hole, to close out at three-under.

Sophomore Kristyna Frydlova finished tied for 25th with a two-over 218 performance. She added three more birdies to her resume on Tuesday, as she closed out the event tied for 10th with 12 birdies.

Frydlova was followed closely by junior teammate Macarena Aguilera’s three-over, 219, as the Buenos Aires, Argentina, native tied for 28th.

Rounding out the Miami lineup, freshman Anna Backman finished tied for 36th (four-over 220), graduate student Claudia De Antonio tied for 61st (11-over 227) and sophomore Serena Hou 83rd (37-over 253).

Miami will now take a 16-day hiatus from tournament play before teeing off at the ACC Championships in Greensboro, N.C., April 18-20.
