CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami Athletics announced Monday that it will host its fifth annual Celebration of Women’s Athletics Presented by adidas on Feb. 3.

Doors to the Watsco Center open at 10 a.m., with the awards breakfast starting at 10:30 a.m. and the Miami women’s basketball game against Atlantic Coast Conference rival Virginia tipping off at 1 p.m.

“We are excited to once again celebrate the legacy of women’s athletics at Miami,” Director of Athletics Blake James said. “Over the past four years, the CWA has continued to grow into one of our signature fundraising events and I encourage our fans to once again come out and support our student-athletes and coaches.”

This year’s CWA will bring back the UM’s Building Women Champions Campaign, designed last year to help develop leaders and prepare women to be successful in life beyond athletic competition. Sponsorship opportunities include new giving levels and exclusive benefits that will strengthen the impact on UM female student-athletes. Please CLICK HERE for CWA Sponsorship information.

“The lessons and values learned through playing sports extend well beyond our student-athletes’ time at UM and the Miami community has an opportunity to empower women to achieve excellence through participating in the Celebration of Women’s Athletics,” said Jennifer Strawley, Deputy Athletics Director/Chief Operating Officer and Senior Woman Administrator. “Through our investment in our female student-athletes, Miami Athletics is preparing the next generation of female leaders.”

The Celebration of Women’s Athletics honors current Miami female student-athletes from each of UM’s nine women’s programs for excellence on the playing field, as well as in the classroom and community. It also recognizes some of the pioneers who have helped pave the way for the continued success of women’s athletics at Miami.

ESPN reporter and UM alumna Allison Williams will serve as the emcee for this years event, with more information available HERE.

The Celebration was founded in 2015 by University of Miami Board of Trustees members Hilarie Bass, Barbara Havenick and Laurie Silvers. All proceeds from the event go toward providing UM female student-athletes with first-class opportunities to compete, study and become the next generation of leaders.

Tickets to the Celebration of Women’s Athletics are $50 per person and includes admission to the women’s basketball game against Virginia.
