This week we get to know Selina Dantzler, the freshman out of Germany, and her early impressions of UM.

Q&A:
Q: What about Miami stood out to you during the recruiting process?
A: I loved the campus and Coach Young put a lot of effort into my visit to help me feel comfortable coming here.
Q: What is the main reason you chose to attend Miami?
A: Both the academics and sports are really good here.
Q: What’s is your favorite thing about Miami?
A: The support you get in sports and academics.
Q: When you were practicing with the team, what were some of the differences you noticed compared to high school practice?
A: I had my own practice plan
Q: What are your goals for this year?
Throwing over 17m in shot put, getting a new PR in discus, qualifying for NCAA, qualifying for European Championships and medaling.
Q: What has been the biggest adjustment in terms of training and in terms of campus/social life?
A: Practice is more weight lifting oriented. I´ve also never experienced a campus community before coming here.
Q: If you were not running cross country/track for the U, what sport would you play?
A: Maybe swimming or skiing
Q: What is your favorite food? What food do you not like at all?
A: My favorite food is pasta and I don’t really like vegetables.
Q: What is your all-time favorite movie? TV show?
A: Suits or Modern Family
Q: What was your most embarrassing “freshman” moment?
A: There are way too many to choose from.
Q: What do you think of dining hall food?
A: The athletes dining hall is really good.
