AUSTIN, Texas – The Miami women’s golf team fell to 15th place Tuesday after two rounds of action at the NCAA Austin Regional, hosted at the par-72, 6,341-yard University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas. Miami shot an 18-over-par 306 as a team in the second round and stands at 28-over 604 through 36 holes.

Miami concludes the regional Wednesday and tees off at 10 a.m. ET/9 CT. The Canes are paired with Texas Tech and Houston Baptist. The top six teams and top three individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.

“It was another tough day for us today,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “We had a sick player and no putts were dropping. The combination really hurt us. It just has not been our week so far. We’re going to give it our best tomorrow.”

Miami’s No. 3 player, Kristyna Frydlova, was forced to withdraw because of illness after nine holes. She stood at 2-over for the round at the time of her withdrawal and tied for UM’s second-lowest score Monday.

For the second straight day, Renate Grimstad posted Miami’s lowest score. She shot a 2-over-par 74 Tuesday and is tied for 29th overall with a 2-over 146 after 36 holes. Dewi Weber carded a 3-over 75 in the second round and is tied for 45th place overall at 5-over (149).

Macarena Aguilera recorded a 5-over 77 and is tied for 77th place at 11-over (155). Roos Haarman scored an 8-over 80 for Miami’s fourth score Tuesday. She stands 88th at 19-over (163).

Making their sixth straight trip to an NCAA Regional under Rizzo, the Canes are attempting to advance to the NCAA Championships for the third straight year and the 26th time in program history.
