Miami Posts Strong Opening Round at UCF Challenge
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team continued its strong play on Sunday, as it opened competition with a score of 295, placing the Hurricanes third after one round at the UCF Challenge.
Sophomore Renate Grimstad opened the tournament on a high note for the Hurricanes, as she fired a score of two-under-par 70. The Norway native finished the day with three birdies and 14 pars.
Grimstad closed strong, as she birdied the final hole of the day. Her round one score of 70 marks the second time in three rounds this spring she has shot under par. She is currently tied for second and is just one stroke behind tournament leader Dorthea Forbrigd from East Carolina.
Junior Dewi Weber also turned in a strong round for Miami, as she fired an opening day total of one-over-par 73. The Netherlands native was consistent throughout the day, posting pars on 15 holes. Weber is currently tied for 12th.
Freshmen Kristyna Frydlova and Roos Haarman are both tied for 34th thanks to round one scores of 76.
Sophomore Macarena Aguilera rounded out Miami’s top five with a day one score of 77. She is currently tied for 50th place.

Iowa State and East Carolina are tied for the team lead after both schools fired opening rounds of 293.
This year’s event will take place at the Par 72, 6,349-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club. Miami is in search of its second straight title at the UCF Challenge.
