Canes Tie for 8th at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – For the 13th time in her collegiate career, University of Miami junior golfer Dewi Weber posted a top-10 finish, tying for seventh at the 2017 ANNIKA Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
 
Weber finished the tournament with a third-round score of one-under-par (76-66-71=213). The Netherlands native posted five birdies on the afternoon and finished the tournament with 14 birdies.
 
As a team, Miami tied for eighth, thanks to a final-round score of 297. The Hurricanes finished with a three-round tally of 889.
 
Sophomore Renate Grimstad also posted a top-15 finish, as she tied for 14th. The Bergen, Norway native posted two birdies and just two bogeys on the day. She also carded 13 pars on the afternoon.
 
Grimstad has now posted four career top-15 finishes.
 
Sophomore Macarena Aguilera also shot under par for the Hurricanes, as she carded a score of one-under-par, 71. The highlight of Aguilera’s round came on hole No. 12, as she recorded her first hole-in-one of her collegiate career.
 
Aguilera’s ace came from 157 yards out and was part of an impressive five-hole streak, which saw her go eagle, par, birdie, par and birdie. The Argentina native finished the tournament 45th (86-74-71=231).
 
Rounding out the Hurricanes’ lineup were sophomore freshman Kristyna Frydlova (48th, 80-72-81=233) and freshman Roos Haarman (60th, 82-79-86=247).
 
Arkansas captured the team championship, as it finished with a score of 848. Maria Fassi captured individual medalist honors.
 
This year’s event was held at the par 72, 6,288-yard Olympic Hills Golf Club. The 12-school field included nine teams in the top-13 of Golfweek’s preseason rankings.
 
Miami returns to action on Monday, Oct. 9, at the 2017 Betsy Rawls Invitational. The two-day event will be held Austin, Texas.
