@HurricanesGolf Opens Play at the Bryan National Collegiate
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 15-ranked University of Miami women’s golf team began play in the Bryan National Collegiate Saturday and sit in seventh place after two rounds of competition.
The Hurricanes took part in 36 holes today after heavy rain on Friday made the course unplayable.
Miami enters final round competition with a two-round score of 587. The Hurricanes posted team scores of 292 (round one) and 295 (round two) and sit just eight team strokes back from cracking into the top three.
Sophomore Dewi Weber and junior Delfina Acosta led the way for the Hurricanes after two rounds as both are tied for ninth with a two-round tally of 143. Weber posted rounds of 72 and 71, while Acosta shot scores of 71 and 72.
Weber finished strong in round two as she carded three birdies on the back nine. She finished the day with seven birdies.
Acosta also registered seven birdies on the day and tallied three birdies on the back nine during round one.
Rounding out the Hurricanes’ top five were freshmen Renate Grimstad, Filippa Moork and Macarena Aguilera as they are tied for 42nd, tied for 45th and tied for 54th, respectively.
Alabama leads all teams with a two-round score of 573. Alabama’s Lauren Stephenson owns the individual lead with 137.
