LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team fell to No. 34 University of Louisville, 4-1, Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

In doubles play, juniors Piotr Lomacki and Nile Clark got Miami off on the right foot, when they defeated Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Ciro Lampasas, 6-3. With the victory, the duo improved to 8-1 as a tandem this spring.

Louisville (12-4, 3-2 ACC) quickly rebounded when No. 22 Sean Donohue and Parker Wynn took down seniors Jesse Flores and Max Andrews, 6-3.

Trailing 1-5 in the match, junior Christian Langmo and sophomore Dane Dunlap won the next three games to cut their deficit to one, 4-5, while trying to mount the comeback. Louisville’s George Hedley and Nicolas Rouanet ended the run with the deciding point to give the Cardinals the 1-0 advantage heading into singles play.

Following the doubles point, Louisville quickly capitalized in singles play when Brandon Lancaster took down Niclas Genovese, 6-2, 6-0.

Trailing 2-0, Miami’s Andrews placed the Canes on the board when he defeated Rouanet, 6-3, 6-1.

On courts one and two, Lomacki and Langmo both fell in their respective opening sets and were looking to keep the match alive by forcing the crucial third set.

Langmo fell to Wynn in a back-and-forth match against Wynn, 4-6, 5-7, before No. 73 Lomacki dropped his match against Morin-Kougoucheff, 4-6, 4-6.

With the match clinched, courts four and six were suspended with Clark leading George Hedley, 7-6, 4-5, while Clark held the advantage over Donohue, 6-4, 2-5.

Next weekend the Hurricanes (6-7, 0-4 ACC) will travel to North Carolina to take on a pair of top-10 foes, beginning with ninth-ranked North Carolina Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m. Miami will wrap up both the weekend and its four-match road stretch two days later, when it faces No. 1 Wake Forest Sunday at noon.
