Miami in Fifth Place at the Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team sits in fifth place after two rounds at the 2017 Hurricane Invitational. The Hurricanes fired a Day 2 score of 301 on Tuesday and have a tournament total of 591.

The three-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,150-yard Biltmore Golf Course.  

Freshman Renate Grimstad carded the Hurricanes’ low round of the day as she posted a score of 1-under-par, 71. Her second round tally was a six-shot improvement from her opening round of 77. Grimstad will enter competition on Wednesday tied for 25th with a two-round total of 148.

Grimstad shot 1-over-par (37) on the front, but would go on to close round two on a high note as she tallied a pair of birdies en route to finishing the back nine 2-under-par (34). Grimstad’s 71 marked the third time this spring she has shot under 72 in a single round.

Fellow freshman Macarena Aguilera leads all Miami individuals after two rounds as she is tied for 18th. Aguilera tallied a second-round score of 75 and holds a tournament total of 147.

Rounding out the Hurricanes’ top five is Delfina Acosta, Dewi Weber and Filippa Moork as they are tied for 22nd (148), tied for 39th (150) and tied for 57th (153), respectively.

Louisville remained in first place after it shot a Day 2 total of 288. The Cardinals currently own a tournament total of 574.

Louisville’s Olivia Cason and Lauren Hartlage and Barry’s Tilda Larsson are in a three-way tie for first place with tournament totals of 141.
