@HurricanesGolf Moves Up The Leaderboard at the UCF Challenge
ORLANDO – The No. 14-ranked University of Miami women’s golf team made a big jump during Day 2 at the UCF Challenge on Monday, as it leaped seven spots up the leaderboard to move into second place, heading into the final round of competition. The Hurricanes posted a second-round score of 280 and own a two-day total of 567. Miami shaved seven strokes off its Round 1 total of 287 and currently stand just seven strokes behind tournament leader Mississippi State (560).
The three-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,349-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club.
Sophomore Dewi Weber led the way for the Hurricanes on Day 2 as she posted a three-under-par, 69. The Netherlands native did not record a score during Round 1 and is out of contention for medalist honors, but her second-round score was key in helping the Hurricanes back into the top three.
Freshman Filippa Moork leads all Miami individuals with a two-round total of 140. The Sweden native turned in her second straight round of two-under-par, 70 and is tied for ninth with a tournament total of 140. Filippa finished the day with four birdies and two bogeys.
Fellow freshman Renate Grimstad also remains in the top 15 with a two-round score of 141. Grimstad carded a second-round 75 and is currently tied for 11th.
MSU’s Chieh Jessica Peng leads all individuals with a score of 131.
Miami begins final round action tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
