@CanesVB Bests Wake Forest in Four Sets

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The University of Miami volleyball team picked up its third consecutive road victory with a four-set win at Wake Forest Friday night.

The Hurricanes (14-15, 8-9 ACC) extended their current winning streak to three with a 3-1 victory over the Demon Deacons (9-19, 5-12 ACC). Wake Forest took the opening set, 26-24, before Miami won three straight sets, 30-28, 25-22 and 25-20, to take the match.

Olga Strantzali led the way for the Hurricanes with 21 kills on a .298 hitting percentage, adding 11 digs, two service aces, a block and an assist. The double-double was Strantzali’s team-leading 11th of the season.

Anna Haak also finished with double-digit kills, recording 12 along with four digs, two blocks, a service ace and an assist. Kolby Bird had eight kills on a team-best .538 hitting percentage, to go with a career-high six blocks, four digs and two aces.

Lucia Pampana led Miami middle blockers with seven kills and added three blocks, while Madison Dill had six kills and a team-leading seven blocks against Wake Forest.

Hannah Sorensen dished out 49 assists and added eight digs, two service aces, two kills and a block. Sylvia Hernandez had a team-best 14 digs and added two services aces and an assist as Miami’s libero. Sara Duque added three digs for the Hurricanes.

The Canes take on Duke at 1 p.m., on Sunday in a match that will air on ACC Network Extra. Following this weekend’s action, the Hurricanes return home for the final two matches of the regular season. Miami will host Georgia Tech at 7 p.m., on Nov. 23 and welcomes Clemson for the season finale at noon on Nov. 25.
