Miami Golf Tied For Eighth at Jim West Challenge After Day One
HOUSTON, Texas – The University of Miami women’s golf team opened play at the 2016 Jim West Challenge on Sunday and is tied for eighth after two rounds.The Hurricanes carded a two-round total of 582. Miami posted scores of 290 (two-over-par) and 292 (four-over-par) in rounds one and two, respectively.
Miami enters round three competition just seven team strokes out from cracking into the top five.
Senior Delfina Acosta led the way for the Hurricanes as she posted a two-round total of 141 and is tied for seventh. Acosta carded nine birdies during day one, including five in round two. The Argentina native closed the tournament strong, as she did not record a bogey over the final nine holes.
Teammate Dewi Weber also cracked the top 25 in the individual rankings after two rounds. Weber is currently tied for 22nd with a 36-hole total for 145.
Fellow Hurricanes Filippa Moork, Renate Grimstad and Daniela Darquea are tied for 35th, 50th and 57th, respectively.
Texas State University is the tournament host. The event is being held at the par 72, 6,137-yard Carlton Woods Creekside Golf Course.
Florida State leads all teams with a two-round total of 15-under-par (561). FSU’s Matilda Castren leads all individuals after she posted a score of 10-under-par (134).
