CANES TRAVEL WEST TO FACE EAGLES
• After completing a sweep of top-10 ranked North Carolina, No. 2 Miami hits the road for a midweek game against FGCU at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers on April 5. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
• The Hurricanes carry a 14-2 all-time lead in the head-to-head series against the Eagles, including a perfect 5-0 mark in road games. Miami beat FGCU 6-2 in the first matchup of the season on March 2.
• Miami (23-4) has won 18 of its past 20 games and sits in first place in the ACC’s Coastal Division with a 10-2 conference record.
• Sophomore righthander Jesse Lepore (3-0, 2.93 ERA) will oppose redshirt sophomore righthander Mario Leon (2-1, 5.16 ERA) Tuesday night.
MORRIS EARNS MILESTONE WINS IN STYLE
• With a walk-off grand slam by junior Willie Abreu vs. Louisville on March 18, Miami head coach Jim Morris became just the sixth coach in history of Division I baseball to reach the 1,500-win milestone.
• Morris became the second coach in the history of Miami baseball to win 1,000 games in Coral Gables when the Hurricanes walked off against No. 17 Clemson 5-4 on March 26 (Ron Fraser – 1,267).
• With one more win, Morris will move past Larry Hays (1,508) as the fifth-winningest coach in Division I baseball history by wins.
• Since his arrival in 1994, UM’s 1,001 wins are sixth-most in Division I.
MIAMI SWEEPS NORTH CAROLINA AT THE LIGHT
• The Hurricanes captured their fourth straight series with a sweep of No. 9 North Carolina and fifth straight series of 2016 from April 1-3, beating the Tar Heels in three straight games at Mark Light Field.
• Miami became the first ACC team to reach 10 conference wins with the sweep of the Tar Heels.
CLIMBING UP THE RECORD BOOKS
• Closer Bryan Garcia entered the year with the fifth-most saves in Miami history (25), and has gotten off to a hot start in 2016. His ACC-leading ninth save of 2016 against North Carolina (April 3).
• Garcia is chasing the all-time record for saves in a career, which is 39 – held by George Huguet (2001-2004). Garcia’s 15 saves as a freshman in 2014 tied for the seventh-most in a single season.
• Garcia moved past Danny Graves (1992-94, 29), and into a tie with Robbie Morrison (1996-98) for third (34). He needs four more to tie Rick Raether (1984-86) for second (37) and is six behind Huguet for first (39).
